The Arc of the Rainbow has shifted and we are offline- for now.
Though “Re-Arcing the Rainbow” is currently off-line, we would like to pay tribute to Dr. Robert Butler, who died on July 4. His work and dedication has and will continue to benefit many, though relatively few outside the disciplines related to Gerontology and aging know of him. He worked tirelessly to promote positive concepts of aging in both the general public and among the older population, to overcome the negativity of “ageism”–a word he coined years ago – and to promote various programs and supports for all. He was one of the first to identify the perils of Alzheimer’s disease were we to fail to pursue both treatments and, hopefully, ultimately, a cure. If you or someone you know are looking forward to a meaningful older life, you can thank Dr. Butler for envisioning the possibilities and working for the realizations.
